Lava Hot Springs

Since it was Memorial Day this past weekend we wanted to do something fun. My whole family went down to Moab but Adam had to work all day Saturday and I had to teach Sharing Time on Sunday so we weren't able to go with them. Instead we took a little trip just the two of us up to Lava Hot Springs. We left Sunday afternoon and stayed until Monday afternoon. It was so much fun and it was only about 2 hours away so the drive wasn't bad at all.

We brought a tent and camped. Here is Adam setting up our camp. I really did help him set it up. The place we camped was basically just a field some people had turned into a camp ground. It was really cheap and just perfect for us.

After our camp was set up we head over the the hot springs. It was so relaxing just sitting in the hot springs and talking.

After a few hours in the hot springs we took a break and went back to camp to make dinner. We made the most yummy tin foil dinners. They were so delicious and had so much flavor. I didn't think they would turn out that great. We put pork, potatoes, broccoli, carrots, and onions in them.

The only problem was that we left our car doors opened the whole time we had the fire going and all of the smoke went in our car. Now my car smells like smoke so bad. I'm hoping it goes away soon.

On the way back to the hot springs we stopped and got a shake and some french fries at Fat Jacks. We cheated on our diet but it was a holiday so it was ok, right!?! Man was it delicious!! We spent the rest of the evening soaking in the hot springs again.

We slept pretty great in our tent that night except it got really cold for a little bit in the middle of the night.

Monday morning we woke up and got all packed up and just drove around the little town a bit. We also ate breakfast at a little diner in town.
We walked around the Sunken Gardens which are really stupid and we were just making fun of them the whole time. It was pretty funny.

Then we hit the road and headed back home.
Later that night we were able to have a BBQ with my family and then we went over and visited with Adam's sister and her family. It was a pretty much perfect weekend.
