This day the ship didn't get to Cozumel until about 1:00 PM so we just ate food and relaxed at the pool all morning.
Once we got off the cruise ship we went straight to a little boat that was taking us on our excursion to the Mayan ruins of Tulum. I thought I would get sick on the little little boat but it was not bad at all. The boat ride was about 20 mins. The comedian we loved from the previous 2 nights was also on the little boat so we talked with him for a little bit.
The boat took us onto the main land and stopped at Playa del Carmen. From there we took about an hour bus ride to get to the Mayan ruins. Playa del Carmen was very pretty and there were a lot of resorts there.
We had a tour guide that was with us on the bus and at the Mayan ruins. Our tour guide's name was Juan. He was SO passionate about the Mayans and their culture. He talked more than anyone I have ever met and most of it made no sense and he never finished his stories. He was pretty entertaining though and he just wanted to make sure we all had a good time. Half way on the bus ride they made a stop at a little shopping mall and let us all use the bathrooms. They basically stop so that people would buy stuff at the gift shop. We just bought some drinks and snacks.

We finally made it to Tulum. We got off the bus and it was SO hot and humid. It was SO gross. You have to walk almost a mile from the bus to the entrance of the ruins. It had been raining for the 2 days before we got there so the whole road to get to the entrance was flooded and muddy. We were all trying not to get wet and muddy but by the end of the road we just gave up and walked in the water. We water smelled so bad and was a brown red color which was pretty good but it felt so good on my feet since it was so hot outside.
We got our tickets at the entrance and headed into the ruins. Our tour guide Juan was pretty knowledgeable so it was cool to hear his stories. You have to go through some trees on a trail before you actually get into the city and I don't think I've ever been so hot it my life. Once we walked through the wall and into the city you could feel the sea breeze and it was so pretty.
We thought the ruins were so cool and the Mayan culture was amazing. Very interesting stuff. We walked around the ruins for awhile and our tour guid Juan told us a lot about them. Then we had about an hour to just explore on our own. We saw a lot of iguanas. They are quite scary to me.
And then my favorite part was when we got to go down to the beach below the ruins. It was SO gorgeous and the water was the most perfect temperature. We were able to swim for a little while and then the waves started getting too big so they made everyone get out but that was ok because we had to head back to the bus anyways.
And then we headed out of the ruins and back to our bus. We were pretty tired on the bus ride and boat ride home so we just took little naps.
When we made it back to Cozumel we walked around the shops a bit and took some pictures since we had a little time before the cruise ship was going to leave.
By the time we got back to the ship we were pretty tired and hungry. We had missed our scheduled dinner time so we just ate at the buffets.Then we did our traditional hot tub soak and ice cream run. And we found this cute little guy in our room when we went to bed.
