Hawaii Day 1 | Maui

August 17th | Maui
Adam's graduation present from his dad was a trip to Hawaii and the time finally came to actually go on the trip. We have waited all summer for this! We embarked on our journey to Hawaii on August 16th at 9:00 pm. We flew to Las Vegas and then had a 5 hour layover. We then flew to Honolulu and had a 1 hour layover and then finally arrived in Maui. It was one of the longest nights in my life and we were so tired by the time we arrived at about 8:00 am Maui time (12:00 pm Utah time). We basically got hardly any sleep all night. It was horrible and I got sick on pretty much every flight but the last was the very worst.
When we finally arrived Tom and Toni were waiting for us at the airport in the convertible we rented. They had fresh leis for us and quickly took us to breakfast. We went to a little place called Charley's. Toni and I got the macadamia nut pancakes and Adam and Tom got the Loco Moco. The pancakes were to die for. Seriously so good! Especially since we were so hungry and hadn't eaten in hours. Then we headed back to the condo, got unpacked, took showers and had a small power nap.
^^^The view from our condo. It is so gorgeous!!
^^^The gorgeous lies we were greeted with. Don't mind how horrible we look after over 24 hours of little to no sleep.
^^^The flowers the leis were made of out smelled so good! I couldn't stop smelling them.3
^^^We rented a convertible for our stay in Maui. It is so much fun to cruise around the island in.

^^^We took a little drive up the mountain to Iao Valley State Monument. It was a pretty ride.
^^^At the top of the mountain there was a little mini hike up to see the Iao Needle. It is this gorgeous peak in the mountain that has been formed from the rivers over many, many years. Along time ago the natives would climb to the top and use it as a lookout.
 ^^^Iao Needle.

^^^Toni found some flowers for us to wear in our hair.
^^^These leaves are so cool and have little bumps all over them.
^^^So many gorgeous flowers in Hawaii!
We stopped at Zippy's for lunch and then we went back to the condo and took a good nap since we were still so tired. Then we had Toni's niece and her family over for dinner. We had a yummy BBQ and we all went swimming in the pool. Then Adam and I took a little walk on the beach. It was a pretty low key first day and we were pretty exhausted the whole day so we headed to bed early.
