Brooklyn - 16 Months

Last Wednesday, November 28th, Brooklyn turned 16 months old. Here are a few things I want to remember about Brooklyn at 16 months:
  • She loves to fold her arms when we pray. We tell her it's time to pray and she folds her arms. But only for about 10 seconds and then she just laughs during the rest of the prayer.
  • Always dances when she hears and music. Or if we say, "Brooklyn dance!" she will starting dancing.
  • Is walking really well and even runs most of the time.
  • Goes to Nursery at church and loves it. A couple of times she whined a little bit as we dropped her off but after a few minutes she was just fine. I usually go peek in on her at least once each Sunday and it's so funny to watch her just interact with all of the other kids.
  • Gives kisses and hugs but only when she wants to. She purses her lips she she goes to give a kiss and then at the last minute she gives an open mouth kiss.
  • She can show you where her belly button, nose, mouth, ears, hands and feet are.
  • Copies everything we do. It amazes me how much she picks up on. The other day I was getting ready in the bathroom and she got a q-tip out of the garbage and started putting it in her ear. I had no idea she was watching us do this.
  • Anytime she sees shoes or socks she tries to put them on herself. She never gets more than a couple of toes in them but it's cute to watch her try and figure it out.
  • Still only really says momma and dadda but she copies all the sounds of the words we say and every now and then it sounds like she says real words.
  • This girl loves her sleep. When she is ready to go to bed she grabs her blanket folds her arms (letting us know she wants to say her prayers) and then waves to us goodbye. She usually goes to sleep at 8:30pm and wakes up at 8:00am.
  • Wears size 4 diapers and size 18-24 month clothes.
  • Tries to go down the stairs by herself and even got half way down one time but still doesn't quite understand that she can get hurt.
  • Loves to play peek-a-boo and patty cake and know all the actions.
  • During songs at church she always copies the director and waves her hand the whole time.
  • Still loves to eat. She would eat all day long if I let her. She seems to love fruits and vegetables and loves drinking out of a straw.
  • Can point to her mom, dad, grandma and grandpa if you ask her where they are.
  • Loves playing outside and always gets mad when we make her come in.
  • Is the worst at restaurants now. She does not want to stay in the highchair. So we've decided that we are only getting take out or a babysitter from now on. It's just too hard with her.
  • She has starting clinging to me more lately. She used to always love being with her daddy but now she only wants me to hold her.
  • Has the cutest little laugh. It seriously just melts me every time.
  • I feel like I can't even describe fully Brooklyn's personality right now. There are so many things she is doing and learning and growing and I wish I could just bottle it up and remember it forever!
